This Is Your Hometown

One of my favorite Bruce Springsteen songs is "This Is Your Hometown".  By now, you faithful followers know that Kirkwood, Missouri is my hometown.  I paint Florida, I paint Maine, but my friend Larry M. wanted to know if I ever paint scenes here at home.  So here is one of my favorite trees which stands on the lawn of the Kirkwood Library.

But the best news is that yesterday, my alma mater Kirkwood High School won the Class 5 State Championship in football for the very first time!  So proud of the Pioneers!

  1. I would never have thought of having a tree dominating the painting, but it really works. Love the light in the painting, and the interest of the people in the background Congrats to your team, is it American Football, or soccer I wonder?

  2. Thanks, Polly, I've done several tree "portraits" that are featured on this blog. Rather than use a tree merely as a framing device, I want people to look at trees as spiritual metaphors of strength, shelter, and beauty. And yes, it is American football! Where do you live?

  3. I live in the north west of England, near Liverpool. So it's a different kind of football that we follow!
